We start with a classic from our neighbours in Germany. This is a larger latex pacifier from the well-known baby goods manufacturer NUK. It has been developed for therapeutic purposes with older children, teens and adults.


It comes in two sizes, "S" for school children and "L" for adults. As far as adult pacifiers are concerned, this model rightly boasts several "bests". In the Czech Republic, it is by far the most accessible and the cheapest. It is also the smallest of all adult soothers.


It is produced exclusively with a label in milky white and an anatomically shaped "flat" teat. The strength of the latex corresponds to that of classic baby pacifiers. NUK Medic Pro has a softer teat that adapts easily to the mouth. When released, it easily regains its original shape and fills with air. The label of the soother is slightly larger than the largest baby soother (size 3).


It is also possible to see the "NUK 5", "Teat trainer" or "Saugtrainer" labels.


It is the only adult soother from a well-known company that also produces high-quality baby soothers. Quality and health safety are therefore guaranteed without further ado.

Whether out of simple curiosity, the joy of rediscovering the forgotten, or as an inexpensive and practical aid for problems with falling asleep, snoring, fussiness or anxiety or grinding teeth. 

In the headline, NUK Medic Pro is described as the "gold standard". We will use it in this sense in future reviews as a benchmark for comparing the features of other pacifiers (size, quality, etc.).

The main focus here is given to the treatment of incorrect swallowing, which is associated with disrupted patterns of tongue movement, and correcting complicated sucking and swallowing actions. Over and above that, using the NUK Teat Trainer can have a positive effect on muscle tone or on the coordination of the inner and outer face muscles. Unrelenting bad habits such as grinding or clenching teeth and tongue thrusting, associated with pain and jaw cracking, can also be effectively treated. The NUK Teat Trainer can be used in speech therapy, orthodontics and physiotherapy too, as part of PADOVAN myotherapy. The method, named after the speech therapist Beatriz Padovan, is a holistic therapy, which observes certain movement patterns of the human development process and makes the patients consciously aware of them. It assumes that complex skills build upon basic competences. Through conscious breathing, sucking, chewing and swallowing, complex speech impairments can be corrected.
